A postwar suburb on the Upper North Shore, backed by Garigal National Park and built on the generous blocks of mid-century Sydney.
East Lindfield is a suburb on the Upper North Shore of Sydney, approximately 13 kilometres north-west of the CBD in the Ku-ring-gai Council local government area. It was gazetted as a separate suburb from Lindfield on 5 August 1994, and that separation reflects a genuine difference in character between the two areas. Where Lindfield proper developed mainly before World War II, most of East Lindfield's housing was built in the 1950s and 1960s - a fact reflected in its architectural character, with the brick postwar homes and mid-century builds that define this era of suburban development rather than the Federation and interwar homes that make up much of Lindfield.
The main road through the suburb is Koola Avenue, which extends from Birdwood Avenue on the western boundary through to Albany Crescent in the east. The suburb backs onto Garigal National Park on its eastern boundary, giving properties on the eastern streets a bushland setting that makes East Lindfield feel significantly more removed from suburban Sydney than its distance from the CBD might suggest. There is a small local shopping centre containing a bakery, cafe, pharmacy, and a handful of other services. Killara High School, a selective public secondary school, is one of the suburb's main institutional landmarks.
The population is around 3,700, with a predominantly owner-occupied demographic that reflects the stable, established family character of the suburb. East Lindfield sits at postcode 2070, sharing with Lindfield proper, and is bordered by Birdwood Avenue and the Eastern Arterial Road to the west and the national park to the east. The residential streets between Koola Avenue and the national park boundary are the quiet core of the suburb - little through-traffic, established gardens, and the kind of privacy that comes with backing onto protected bushland.
Koola Avenue is the practical spine of East Lindfield for a removal truck, running east-west through the suburb and providing access to most of the residential streets that branch off it. The streets are generally wide enough for a truck to position comfortably, and most properties have driveways with adequate off-street space. The postwar housing stock means the homes are typically on full blocks with clear front access rather than the narrow-frontage properties that can complicate Inner West or inner-city moves.
The streets that back onto Garigal National Park on the eastern boundary are the exception. Properties here sit on the edge of the national park and some have driveways that run deep into the block, or access tracks that don't suit a large removal truck. Billy confirms access for any property in the eastern reaches of the suburb at quoting stage - the national park boundary is not far from Koola Avenue but the character of individual streets in that section varies significantly.
The Killara High School precinct on Koola Avenue generates school-hour traffic that is worth factoring in for any move with a morning arrival time near that end of the suburb. Birdwood Avenue on the western boundary connects to the Eastern Arterial Road and from there to the main Upper North Shore arterials. The approach timing for any East Lindfield job is planned around the morning peak on Birdwood Avenue and the Eastern Arterial, both of which carry significant commuter traffic.

Generally yes. The main road is Koola Avenue which runs through the suburb, and most residential streets have adequate access. The suburb backs onto Garigal National Park on its eastern boundary, and properties on those streets can have longer carries. Billy checks these at quoting stage.
