Removalists Randwick.
Named after a Gloucestershire village by a man who became mayor six times. Home to Australia's first racecourse and a hospital that began as an orphanage.
Randwick takes its name from a small village in Gloucestershire, England, the birthplace of Simeon Henry Pearce, who migrated to Australia in 1842 and went on to serve as Mayor of Randwick no fewer than six times. Pearce and his brother James, who joined him from England in 1848, were instrumental in establishing and developing the area, and Simeon built the suburb's first stone house - Blenheim House on Blenheim Street - in 1848. The building fell into disrepair over the years but has since been restored by Randwick City Council and remains standing today. Randwick became a municipality in 1859 and a city in 1990.
Royal Randwick Racecourse, which opened in the 1830s, holds the distinction of being Australia's first horseracing venue, and remains a genuinely fashionable destination during the Spring Racing Carnival. The Prince of Wales Hospital, now a major teaching hospital affiliated with the University of New South Wales, began life in 1858 as the Randwick Asylum for Destitute Children - by 1863 it housed more than 800 children - before being converted to a military hospital during the First World War and formally becoming the Prince of Wales Hospital in 1953. Today the Randwick Hospitals Campus brings together the Prince of Wales Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Women, and the Sydney Children's Hospital in one of the largest medical precincts in the country.
A sandstone building on Avoca Street, built in 1859 by one of Randwick's first elected leaders, briefly operated as an inn called the Star and Garter before Captain Thomas Watson - who later raised its distinctive tower and commissioned the 1874 statue of Captain James Cook still standing outside - took up residence there. The University of New South Wales, established alongside the racecourse and hospital precinct, gives Randwick a genuinely youthful, transient population layer of students and academics alongside its longer-established residential streets. Belmore Road remains the suburb's main commercial spine, with Royal Randwick Shopping Centre and Randwick Plaza sitting on either side.
Between the racecourse and the university, Randwick has one of the most varied housing stocks in the Eastern Suburbs - terraces, apartments, large family homes - and we've worked across all of them.
Belmore Road, the hospital and university precinct, and what moving in Randwick involves
Belmore Road is Randwick's main commercial street, and the surrounding blocks carry consistent traffic throughout the day given the concentration of shops, the two shopping centres, and the proximity to the hospital and university precinct. Billy positions the truck from a quieter side street for any move near this core, particularly given how much additional traffic the hospital precinct itself generates.
Randwick's housing stock genuinely spans the spectrum - Victorian terrace houses and Federation cottages on the established residential streets, mid-rise apartment buildings that serve the university and hospital community, and a meaningful number of older homes that have been held by the same family for decades. The volume in these longer-occupied properties is often more than a quick estimate would suggest.
For moves involving students or shorter-term renters near UNSW, Billy and Jet are used to a fast turnaround and a smaller, more straightforward job. For interstate moves originating in Randwick, the same same-crew approach applies as anywhere else Billy and Jet work.

Two locals, not a call centre.
When you book a Randwick move, Billy or Jet runs it personally - not a call centre handing you off to whoever's free. They know the Belmore Road traffic well enough to plan the truck position and the day before it starts, not figure it out on the morning. On bigger jobs they bring in their own trusted, experienced team, but Billy or Jet is always on site - sometimes both of them. Either way, there's always a named person from The Movers Company accountable for your move. Every item is wrapped and carried properly, and your home - doorframes, walls, floors, at both ends - is protected the whole way through. Fully insured by QBE. No deposit, no cancellation fees.
