Home by the sea, up high - the Aboriginal meaning of the name, and still the best description of where this suburb sits.
Elanora Heights is a suburb on Sydney's Northern Beaches, 27 kilometres north-east of the CBD, sitting on the hill above Narrabeen with views over Narrabeen Lagoon and the Tasman Sea. The name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning home by the sea or home by the water, combined with Heights to describe its elevated position above the lagoon. It is an accurate description - the suburb sits at around 84 metres above sea level on the Warriewood Escarpment, with the lagoon spreading below to the east and national park pressing in on both the north and south-west sides.
The suburb's residential development began formally with the Elanora Heights Estate in 1929, though earlier attempts at settlement had included a coal mining camp that proved impractical. The foundations of the suburb's identity were laid somewhat earlier - members of the Royal Sydney Golf Club purchased a large parcel of land around 1920 and established the Elanora Country Club, which opened in 1922 and remains one of two golf courses in the suburb today alongside Monash Country Club. Native wildlife is conspicuous here - bandicoots, blue tongue lizards, possums, and many birds are regularly seen. Rock wallabies have been observed on the course at Elanora Country Club, and a rare quoll has been sighted in the suburb in recent years.
The northern side of Elanora Heights backs onto bushland running to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, and the south-western boundary adjoins Garigal National Park. These dual national park boundaries give the suburb its distinctive enclosed-by-bush feel - you can walk out of the back of some properties and into national park within minutes. The suburb is mainly residential with a small local shopping strip. The Uniting Church runs a conference centre set in the bushland. Elanora Heights is home to some of the largest homes in what was formerly the Pittwater Council area.
The streets in Elanora Heights sit on elevated, undulating terrain above Narrabeen Lagoon. Many properties here have the kind of views that come with a premium, and with the views come the access realities of a hillside suburb. Driveways vary from flat and accessible to steeply sloped tracks that require the truck to park on the road and carry from there. Billy assesses driveway gradient and truck positioning at quoting stage for any Elanora Heights property where the access is not clear from the street.
The national park boundaries on the north and south-west create natural dead-ends for some streets in these sections of the suburb. Properties on the park-adjacent streets can have longer driveways and limited turning space at their ends, and the vegetation overhanging some of these roads requires checking for truck clearance. Billy notes this when quoting any address in the outer sections of the suburb near the park boundary. Powder Works Road on the northern boundary and Deep Creek on the southern boundary define where the suburb ends and the park begins.
The absence of rail in the Northern Beaches means Elanora Heights residents are car-dependent and the local streets see reasonable traffic at school and commuter peak times. Wakehurst Parkway to the west provides the main connection to the wider road network and is the practical approach for a removal truck coming from the south. The B-Line bus corridor and Pittwater Road connection via Narrabeen is the alternative route from the north. Billy plans the truck approach and timing around the peak window on Wakehurst Parkway for any Elanora Heights job.

"Moved from an Elanora Heights home with lagoon views - steep driveway, large home. They assessed it all beforehand, brought the right crew, and handled everything with care. Outstanding job."- Helen R., Elanora Heights large home move
We price by the hour. The rate depends on crew size, truck size, and access at both addresses. Use the quote form to get a clear estimate, or read our guide on how much removalists cost in Sydney.
It varies significantly. Some streets are manageable with good kerb access, others have steep driveways where the truck has to hold on the road and carry is done over a longer distance. Billy assesses the specific property at quoting stage - the suburb's elevation and terrain mean no two properties have identical access conditions.
Yes. Streets that back onto Garigal or Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park can be effectively dead-ends for a large truck, with limited turning space and overhanging vegetation to navigate. Billy maps these at quoting stage and confirms access before moving day.
We charge by the hour. Elevated access and longer carries from steep driveways are factored honestly into the estimate. Get in touch with your address for a clear quote.
