A peaceful place - and a suburb that has earned the name it was given.
Allambie Heights sits 17.5 kilometres north-east of the Sydney CBD in the Northern Beaches Council area, bordered to the south by the Manly Dam Reserve and to the west by Garigal National Park. Allambie is an Aboriginal word meaning peaceful place, and the name has suited the suburb well since the estate by that name was first subdivided and auctioned in 1918. The suburb itself was developed primarily in the late 1940s and early 1950s, when returned soldiers from the Second World War sought land on which to build family homes. That history is written into the street names - Moresby Place, Owen Stanley Avenue, Wewak Place, Libya Crescent, Tobruk Avenue, Roosevelt Avenue, and Churchill Crescent are all named after battles or leaders from that conflict, a deliberate commemoration built into the geography of the suburb from the start.
The Aboriginal heritage of the area goes back much further. A goat track following roughly the route of today's Allambie Road was likely used by Aboriginal people to access the ocean beaches at Manly, and Gumbooya Reserve in the suburb contains significant Aboriginal rock carvings. The Manly Dam Reserve that borders the suburb to the south is 375 hectares of urban bushland, home to numerous plant and animal species and the site of the Manly Dam itself - a heritage-listed structure built to supply the Manly township with freshwater. The reservoir extends into Allambie Heights and the reserve is accessible from many streets in the suburb, offering bushwalking, mountain biking, and swimming. Westfield Warringah Mall at Brookvale is the major retail draw for the area and is a short drive from most parts of the suburb.
The population of around 7,300 is predominantly owner-occupied - around 82% of households own their home - and the suburb has a strong family character with Allambie Heights Public School serving the local area. The small local shopping centre on Allambie Road has an IGA, cafe, newsagency, bakery, and community centre that give the suburb a genuinely self-contained village feel for day-to-day needs. Allambie Heights is also home to several retirement villages and aged care centres including the Scalabrini Village, the German Lutheran Homes, and facilities run by the Sunnyfield Association and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Allambie Road is the main artery through the suburb and provides the primary approach for any removal truck working in Allambie Heights. The streets off Allambie Road to the east and west are standard residential width, with good kerb access and off-street parking available on most properties. The suburb is at a meaningful elevation - 118 metres above sea level - which gives many streets views toward Dee Why, Manly, and North Head, but also means that some of the streets sloping down toward the reserve boundary have steeper driveways than they appear from the road. Billy checks driveway access and gradient at quoting stage for any property with a visible slope.
The streets closest to the Manly Dam Reserve boundary on the southern edge of the suburb are the ones that most benefit from a site visit before moving day. Properties here can have longer carries from the street to the front door, and the reserve boundary means there is no through route - the truck approach is from the suburb side only. For the flatter streets in the central and northern parts of the suburb near the local shops and the primary school, access is more straightforward and the move is primarily about volume and load sequence rather than terrain.
Allambie Heights has a high proportion of freestanding family homes on reasonably sized blocks, which means most moves here involve the kind of volume that benefits from careful organisation. Jet coordinates the load plan on larger jobs to make sure the truck is packed in the right order and the day runs without doubling back. Families moving into or out of the suburb from the wider Northern Beaches - particularly those moving up from Manly or across from Brookvale - are a regular part of the work here, and Billy knows the routes well in both directions.
We also cover neighbouring Dee Why, Brookvale, and Collaroy regularly.

"Moving into an Allambie Heights house from the Inner West. They knew the access road and had everything sorted before they arrived. Really professional and the whole day was stress-free."- Craig and Mel, Allambie Heights family move
We price by the hour. The reserve-boundary streets and elevated terrain in some parts of the suburb are factored into the quote honestly. Use the quote form to get in touch, or read our guide on how much removalists cost in Sydney to understand the pricing structure before you call.
Allambie Heights is a popular family suburb with low crime, good local primary school, quiet streets, and direct access to Manly Dam Reserve. Many families move here when they want Northern Beaches proximity with more space per dollar than Manly or Freshwater provide.
Most of Allambie Heights has good residential street access. Allambie Road is the main artery and the streets off it are generally wide enough for a removal truck. Some properties near the Manly Dam Reserve boundary have longer carries from the street to the front door, and Billy checks this at quoting stage.
