Named after an Irish innkeeper. Now one of Sydney's fastest-growing family suburbs.
Kellyville derives its name from Hugh Kelly, an Irish landowner who purchased property in the area in 1826 and operated the nearby Bird in the Hand tavern. The first European land grants in the vicinity date to 1802. The suburb sits 36 kilometres north-west of the CBD along Windsor Road in The Hills Shire, bordered by Castle Hill to the east, Rouse Hill to the north, and Kellyville Ridge to the west. The area was traditionally inhabited by the Bediagal clan of the Darug people prior to European settlement.
Kellyville spent most of the twentieth century as semi-rural land with farming communities before the residential and retail development that began in earnest in the 1990s and accelerated with the Sydney Metro Northwest. The Metro station at Kellyville connects the suburb to Chatswood in around 35 minutes and the CBD beyond. Windsor Road serves as the primary arterial route through the suburb, upgraded to six lanes in 2002 to handle the growth that was already underway.
The residential character is a mix of the established family homes from the earlier development waves and the newer master-planned estates that have appeared since Metro construction began. Properties range from large established homes on generous blocks in the older parts of the suburb to contemporary townhouses and freestanding homes in the newer estate streets. Kellyville Village and proximity to Rouse Hill Town Centre and Castle Hill Towers give residents shopping and amenity options without needing to leave the Hills corridor.
For the established family homes in the older parts of Kellyville - the streets that developed in the 1990s and early 2000s before the Metro - the housing is generous by Sydney standards: four and five-bedroom homes on substantial blocks, double garages, pools, and the outdoor furniture of long family occupation. These are the moves where Billy's volume assessment during quoting matters most. A property that looks like a standard four-bedder often has a garage full of tools, a pool shed, and a garden that has been actively used for 20 years.
For the newer estate streets that have appeared since Metro construction - the master-planned developments around the Kellyville and Rouse Hill station precincts - the access infrastructure is modern and well-suited to a large truck. Wide carriageways, decent driveways, and the open estate character that makes loading positions easy to hold. Jet confirms any strata requirements for the townhouse and apartment components of these estates before the day.
Windsor Road through Kellyville carries the dual burden of being both a local arterial and a regional through route connecting the Hills District to Parramatta and the motorway network. At peak hours the road is heavily congested, particularly around the Merriville Road and Old Castle Hill Road intersections. For any Kellyville move with a Windsor Road address, the loading position is on a side or estate street and the approach timing avoids the morning peak.

"Kellyville home from the early 2000s development wave - four bedrooms, a garage full of tools, and a pool that needed its furniture shifted too. Billy assessed the full picture and the move ran exactly to the time he quoted."- Michelle R., Kellyville family home move
