Removalists Windsor.

Australia's third-oldest colonial settlement. We make the run from Sydney.

Windsor is one of the five Macquarie Towns established by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1810, sitting on the Hawkesbury River 55 kilometres north-west of the CBD. It was first settled in 1791, making it the third-oldest place of British settlement on the Australian mainland after Sydney and Parramatta. Thompson Square at the town's centre is one of the finest collections of early colonial architecture in Australia. The Macquarie Arms Hotel on George Street, first licensed in 1815 and operating continuously as a hotel ever since, has a tunnel to the Hawkesbury River reputedly built for smuggling. St Matthew's Anglican Church, designed by the colonial architect Francis Greenway and completed in 1822, is regarded as one of Greenway's masterworks - sited magnificently on a hill above the town with a cemetery containing graves of first fleeter convicts.

Windsor today serves as the major commercial and civic hub for the broader Hawkesbury district, with a population of around 1,915 in the town itself and a much larger catchment across the surrounding rural residential area. Windsor Mall and the town's retail strip serve daily needs, with Hawkesbury Hospital and the Hawkesbury Regional Museum and Gallery among the community institutions. The Windsor railway station on the Richmond branch line connects the town to the CBD via Blacktown, a journey of around 80 minutes.

Moving to or from Windsor requires a crew that is comfortable with the 55-kilometre run from Sydney and the specific character of the Hawkesbury's housing stock - which ranges from the heritage colonial buildings in the town centre to the large rural residential properties and hobby farms in the surrounding district. Billy and Jet do the run regularly for interstate moves that depart from the Hawkesbury region, and for families relocating to or from the outer reaches of Sydney's metropolitan boundary.

A heritage town, a rural district, and a 55km run we are comfortable making

The heritage buildings in Windsor's town centre - the colonial homes on Thompson Square and the surrounding streets, the sandstone pubs, the Greenway-designed courthouse and church - require the same care as any period property. Original floors, original doorframes, the kind of materials that reflect 200 years of age rather than 50. For any Windsor heritage property move, Billy walks the building during quoting and plans the sequence before the truck arrives. Heritage homes in Windsor are the oldest residential buildings we move anywhere.

The surrounding rural residential properties and hobby farms in the Hawkesbury district present the same planning considerations as Terrey Hills or other semi-rural suburbs - acreage, long driveways, sheds, and the volume of rural occupation that people consistently underestimate. For any Hawkesbury rural property move, Billy does an in-person assessment before quoting. A phone quote on a rural Hawkesbury property is not an honest quote.

Windsor Road connects the town to the Hills District and the Sydney motorway network at Baulkham Hills. The run from the Northern Beaches to Windsor takes around 75 to 90 minutes depending on the traffic through Parramatta or the M2. Billy plans the departure and arrival times around the motorway flow so the truck is not sitting in peak hour traffic with a full load. Early starts for Windsor jobs are standard practice.
