Removalists Collaroy.

Halfway along the Northern Beaches. Two very different moving environments.

Collaroy takes its name from the steamship SS Collaroy, which famously ran aground on its beach in 1881 - a reminder that this stretch of coast has been part of Sydney's story for a long time. The suburb sits halfway along the Northern Beaches peninsula between Narrabeen to the north and Dee Why to the south, and the Collaroy Cinema on Pittwater Road - built in 1938 and still running first-release films - is the kind of institution that tells you something about a community's relationship with its own history.

Collaroy covers two genuinely distinct environments. Down at the beach along the Pacific Parade and Collaroy Beach strip, apartment blocks from the post-war decades sit directly behind the sand with the access characteristics of their era - compact lifts where they exist, narrow stairwells, and parking that fills from 7am on any good weather weekend morning. Up on Collaroy Plateau - the elevated tableland sitting above the beach suburb - the character shifts entirely to family homes on generous blocks with the wide tree-lined streets and the community feel of a suburb that has stayed largely unchanged since the 1970s.

Pittwater Road is the main arterial connecting Collaroy to both Dee Why in the south and Narrabeen in the north. It carries the through-traffic of the entire peninsula during peak hours and is one of those roads where a removal truck trying to position for a direct load during business hours is fighting a losing battle. The side streets off Pittwater Road are where the loading positions come from for most Collaroy beachside moves.

Two genuinely different suburbs in one postcode - the beachfront apartments and the plateau homes behind them require different approaches, and we know which side of Collaroy we're working before the truck leaves.

Beachfront apartments at one end, Plateau family homes at the other

For the beachfront apartment buildings along Pacific Parade and the blocks behind the beach strip, the early start principle applies as firmly here as anywhere on the Northern Beaches. By 8am on a summer weekend the foreshore parking is genuinely competitive. Billy plans the start time and loading position for any Collaroy beachside move to be in place before the beach crowd arrives. For buildings with older lifts or stair-only access, Jet assesses the specific limitations during quoting so nothing is discovered on moving morning.

For Collaroy Plateau - the suburb proper for most long-term residents - the access environment is different in character and much more forgiving. The streets around Veterans Parade and the residential blocks running toward Plateau Park are well-organised, wider than most of the lower beach strips, and have good off-street parking on many properties. The family homes here have been occupied seriously for decades and the volume reflects that. We plan for the full picture during quoting.

The Narrabeen Lagoon marks the northern boundary between Collaroy and Narrabeen. The foreshore parks and recreation areas around the lagoon attract weekend visitors and their cars to the surrounding streets. For any Collaroy move near the lagoon end of the suburb on a weekend morning, the loading position is confirmed before the day so the truck is not competing with the recreation crowd for a park.

Two locals, not a call centre.

When you book a Collaroy move, Billy or Jet runs it personally - not a call centre handing you off to whoever's free. They know Collaroy and the plateau above well enough to plan the truck position and the day before it starts, not figure it out on the morning. On bigger jobs they bring in their own trusted, experienced team, but Billy or Jet is always on site - sometimes both of them. Either way, there's always a named person from The Movers Company accountable for your move. Every item is wrapped and carried properly, and your home - doorframes, walls, floors, at both ends - is protected the whole way through. Fully insured by QBE. No deposit, no cancellation fees.
