Inside Our Ongoing Partnership with &somethingelse Gallery

Written by Billy Byrne - February 2026

Most of the work we talk about on this site is a one-off house move - book us, we turn up, the job's done. This one is different. &somethingelse Gallery in Manly has been a standing client for a while now, and the relationship is a good example of what this kind of work actually looks like day to day.

What the work actually involves

Gallery work is nothing like a house move. Pieces are often one-of-a-kind, sometimes oddly shaped, frequently fragile in ways that aren't obvious just from looking at them, and the cost of getting it wrong isn't a scratch on a wardrobe - it can be a piece that can't be replaced at all. We move artworks between the gallery, storage, and clients, handle pieces during changeovers between exhibitions, and work around opening nights and installation deadlines.

Why this kind of work changes how we operate

Everything slows down. We wrap properly rather than quickly, we carry pieces the way they need to be carried rather than the way that's fastest, and we ask questions about a piece before we touch it if we're not sure how it's meant to be handled. None of that is complicated, but it does mean treating every single piece as if it's the most valuable thing on the truck that day - because for someone, it often is.

What Liz says

Liz Duke, co-owner of &somethingelse Gallery, put it simply: "The boys have been really helpful with all the artworks, making sure they take care with everything but also bring a great attitude and work extremely hard. We are excited to keep this corporate partnership forever."

What this shows about how we work more broadly

The same approach that goes into a gallery handover applies to any genuinely valuable or fragile load - art, antiques, instruments, anything where "replace it if it breaks" isn't really an option. If that's the kind of move you're planning, our art and antique removals page has more detail on how we handle that work specifically.

We also work with a number of other businesses on a similar, ongoing basis - this isn't a one-off arrangement we made for one gallery. If a standing relationship is something your business needs, it's worth a conversation.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. We work with &somethingelse Gallery in Manly on an ongoing basis, handling artwork moves with the extra care that kind of work requires. We're happy to quote one-off art and antique jobs as well as ongoing arrangements.

Artwork is often irreplaceable, sometimes fragile in non-obvious ways, and frequently needs to move without any visible handling marks. It means slower, more deliberate work - wrapping properly, carrying flat where needed, and never rushing a piece to save time.
